Moorbridge Supports Children in Care across North Tyneside
In Partnership with the Madlug Foundation
The number of looked after children now attending Moorbridge is at an all time high, and we are committed to ensuring they receive the support and resources they need to thrive.
To this end, we have partnered with the Madlug Foundation, a charity dedicated to providing dignity and respect to care-experienced children and young people.I wanted to reach out to you regarding an exciting fundraising event that I believe will make a significant impact on the lives of the increasing number of children in care.

Madlug was founded in 2015 by Dave Linton. A man whose only experience in the luggage industry was bags of enthusiasm. He was heartbroken when he learned that most children in care have their belongings moved in a bin bag. This is something we have seen at Moorbridge on numerous occasions in recent years. The impact on our young people is nothing short of devastating.

To help raise funds, we are planning a Sponsored Walk from St Mary's Lighthouse to Longsands beach at Tynemouth on Saturday, the 30th of November, which is open to all colleagues and their families. Additionally, we are also organising a short walk from all four of our Moorbridge sites with a select group of pupils on Friday, the 29th of November, as well as with our student council members, to raise awareness of our commitment to the Madlug organisation amongst pupils, parents and carers.
Our initial goal was to raise £200 (20 bags) to support the Madlug message and ensure that all care-experienced children and young people have the dignity and respect they deserve when moving placements. 20 bags would cover the number of looked after children attending Moorbridge. After smashing that target, we have now confirmed with North Tyneside's virtual head, Jane Pickthall, that there are 132 children of secondary age and 112 of Primary age, within North Tyneside that are currently in care. We would therefore like to cover the whole group and raise a minimum of £2420.
All additional funds raised will go directly to the Madlug charity to support them in their mission.

I believe this is a wonderful opportunity for us to come together as a community and make a tangible difference in the lives of our pupils.
If you have any questions or would like to get involved, please don't hesitate to reach out.
